Albert Einstein, possibly the most famous scientist to have ever lived, says…
“The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind a faithful servant. We have become a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.”
How is that working out for us?
The recent pandemic revealed many systems of our society to be severely compromised. The number of people now suffering from stress, anxiety, overwhelm and confusion has increased exponentially. People have no idea what the world will look like or how to operate in these new circumstances. Our systems are breaking down under the pressure.
Collectively, societies are searching for a different way forward—unique strategies to create a new world. Many are desperately processing endless amounts of data looking for answers they will never find. Why? Because answers do not exist in that realm.
Once again Einstein comes through with powerful wisdom when he states that…
“No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it.
When we combine these words of wisdom the solution emerges. We need to elevate our level of consciousness to gain access to the brilliant solutions that await us. A dramatic and profound pivot is required for us to create a new and powerful world.
Inspirational leaders in this new world will reverse the process of honoring the servant and ignoring the gift. They will shift from leading with data and rational thought process to leading from a place of inner knowing and allowing intelligence and data to support intuition.
Intuition is defined as the ability to understand something immediately, without the need for conscious reasoning. It is the way the subconscious mind communicates with the conscious mind. Feelings that arise from the subconscious are real, tangible and based on data. The power of this gift draws on the fact that the conscious mind can only process approximately forty bits of information per second compared to the four-million-bit capacity of the subconscious. In a data war between the conscious and subconscious minds—there is no contest.
Cognitive science now validates the powerful, if inexplicable presence of unconscious reasoning. Along with a large body of anecdotal evidence, solid research efforts suggest intuition is a critical aspect of how humans make decisions. To empower decision making we need to learn to balance intuition with rational thought. In honoring both gifts we gain access to the vast resources available to us.
Intuition is the best business tool available—if only we learned to listen.
Every person on the planet has intuition however not every person chooses to listen to it. Powerful leaders stand out because they listen and follow this inner guidance—their ‘gut‘ instinct. This is evidenced by the advice of successful leaders such as…
Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become.–Steve Jobs
I rely far more on gut instinct than researching huge amounts of statistics.–Richard Branson
I’ve trusted the still, small voice of intuition my entire life. And, the only time I’ve made mistakes is when I didn’t listen.–Oprah Winfrey.
